snugtop outback canopy interface with ford camera system
I just had a snugtop outback canopy that I ordered installed a few days ago. I was really excited for this canopy. Coming back to a truck after 7 years with a van, this canopy just felt right. There are some issues (paint match, faulty windows) but snugtop is fixng all the issues without any hesitation. I just have to send it back and wait 6 weeks, oh well. One issue that i really want to address is the rear view camera. The image quality is really poor and it is completely disconnected from the factory system. the 360 image is now just black in the rear of the truck, and when i put it in reverse i have to manually select the rear camera on the display screen to active the canopy camera.
What i was thinking about doing was removing the factory camera and wiring from the tailgate and mounting it as close to its original location on the new rear canopy door. My hope is to get back to a stock camera configuration. any thoughts on this? do you see any major roadblocks? thanks in advance.
