I don't want to beat a dead horse, but there is one other situation that I know of personally that will cause your door chime to sound off. Some kind soul on this website told me about it, and sure enough it was my problem. If you have had an after market radio installed, there is a chance that the GEM cirucuit was not connected into the radio circuit as the original one was. Anyway, if this is the case with your truck, and you leave the power to your radio off, and open the door, the chime will be activated. The easy solution is to turn on your radio and leave it on when you turn off the ignition. No more chime alarm when you open the door. Not sure why this works, but it has something to do with the after market radio installation. Just thought there might be someone whose Ranger is suffering from this sympton. I suppose if you powered the radio from a separate source and not the original fused source, this would also cure the problem.

I understand. I have an after market radio too. I quess maybe mine got installed CORRECTLY. I was commenting on the "what is a CORRECT chime issue" thats why I quoted above. I simply had the problem with the switch in the shrowd, which was mentioned in this thread, and so I fixed it and noticed that what somebody said was supposed to be a CORRECT chime was a little different from what my model truck did..... so I posted it, no offense intended.

I'm glad you were able to fix your problem; a similar issue envolving the chime I might add which is what this thread was started for.

The key word here is "CORRECT" operation not what your truck might do if it is operating incorrectly. Do you understand now? Good.

Thanks

You sound like a school teacher, where this is CORRECT and that is CORRECT and we don't want to deal with anything that is INCORRECT. Unfortunately, that's not the way the real world works. I tried and tried to find a solution to my INCORRECT wiring problem and none was forth coming until this kind soul, who had the same INCORRECT problem, kindly shared his information with me. And now I know the solution to my INCORRECT problem and will be able to CORRECT it if I so choose to do so.

If you don't know what is right, how would you know if you fixed your problem. I wasn't talking to you anyway... This thread is meant to help people solve problems related to the chime (note the title of the thread). Hopefully by gathering the right data. It's called "data collection" in the engineering world.

Different model trucks may work differently.... notice I mentioned my model truck. If yours works differently and you think it is working right than post your model and data.... maybe it is different.

Why you are attacking me is beyond me.... and childish on your part.

Sorry folks put this guy is something else.

Good Luck

To Cary200, I want to apologize for everything I said that caused any misunderstanding between us. It was never my intent to belittle or challenge any of your information. The irony is the fact I thought your data was informative and helpful and I only wanted to add my two cents worth. Obviously, my manner came across as caustic. And your correct, it was childish on my part to react in such a manner, even though I'm 73 years old. Second childhood perhaps? Anyway, we all love our Rangers and I look forward to all your information on this forum. Keep on "truckin", Okay?
