OK, I looked through tech folders and didn't find anything on it so forgive me if it was right under my nose and I couldn't see it...I'm trying to get the manual transfer case out of a truck and don't know the procedure. I'm having trouble getting the plastic piece off from around the selector lever and I'll soon just destroy it with a pry bar if I have to but I would prefer to save it if I can. I don't think I need a detailed run-down but the basics should get me going in the right direction.
Good, that stick doesn't even need to come out then, just disconnect it down under.
Thanks
Yes, after unhooking the shifter and bracket/rods, the driveshafts and (6) 13mm bolts hold the t-case to the trans. You’ll want a new gasket to go back in there.

Why are you removing t-case?
Oh boy, somebody just had to ask...this is in a parts truck I bought a couple of years ago and I've been taking things off of it a little at a time and now I'm at the trans and transfer case.
His videos are worth watching, even if you are not doing the specific job he is showing. Why, do you ask ?. Because he is a excellent person for the DIY wrencher. He shows alot of tips and tricks along the way in his method and even shows/explains his shortfalls when he is operating. Always explains the tools needed with references on what is needed. Wish he could do more videos. Thanks Ron.

I just pulled my transfer case and my plastic bushings came apart just fine by pulling them apart with a pry bar.
Also note that a 13mm swivel socket along with a second swivel came in handy for this job... I got a set of Kobalt 12 point metric swivel sockets a couple years ago and just used it for the first time.
