If you are happy how injector are performing besides cold start, just drive it.Keep injector upgrade in mind..
You could shim them for an band aid..
Thanks finnish, yea they do pretty good other than the morning, just getting tired of plugging the truck in every morning. The truck is very smoky and has a burst of black smoke every once and awhile during hard acceleration, like one or two cylinders got to much fuel that revolution. The smokiness could be the tunes though( DPtunes). I have been doing so much on my F-350 that this truck kind of got put on the back burner. I guess it's only a matter of time and I will have to replace the injectors anyways, just sucks that I did them 4 years ago. I thought about shimming them but I'm not a Band-Aid kind of guy, would rather just get it over with if I'm going to have everything apart. Thanks for all the advice, I will try a buzz test first thing in the morning while cold and see what happens👍
I forgot to mention about shimming..
Only good for do-in-place,if injector is pulled it needs to be rebuild or swapped..
Too many people pulls injectors and replaces only external orings, total waste of time..
Here is a buzz test, where cylinder 1# has an loose injector armature screw:
Your cylinder one sounds like my cylinder four kind of a weak buzz. You're just referring to the four small screws ( going off of memory) on top of the injector? I've never heard of those coming loose might be something to check
Jason, your issue sounds like mine when I bought the truck. I had 351K, truck would barely catch at 50*, bought it in the Fall, The next day Id get it to start at 28° but it sounded like an old tractor until the oil warmed up. We were pretty sure that the poppets were worn... I ended up buying a set from Rosewood (rebuilt)… when we pulled the injectors six of the eight were original. Ever since then the truck has started not plugged in, to date the lowest I’ve tried was -7. It’s not happy about it, it’ll **** and moan for a few seconds and then go to a nice idle.
I just briefly skimmed through the post. I would definitely try 5W/40, the truck seems to start even better since I switched to the Triax 5w/40 from the T6...and if it’s convenient plug your truck in on a timer at night.

I'm referring part nr.3 in the exploded view.
My Google research indicates that poppet valve screw breaks more often than loosens up..

Thanks John, I'm in Florida and just change the injectors about 4 years ago so a little disappointed they haven't lasted very long. I do like the timer idea, thanks🤘. I will try some synthetic oil and see if that helps, being that I'm in Florida and it doesn't get very cold should I just stick with 15w40 synthetic?
Thanks for all the replies guys 👍. I did a buzz test this morning and injectors four and eight sounded weak but when I did the buzz test yesterday when the engine was hot only injector 4 sounded weak. Is the IDM to blame for this or maybe the wiring from the IDM to the injectors? Thought it was odd that the electrical wasn't working on injector 8 when the engine is cold

The price is the same so it’s a personal choice...either way it can’t hurt.
