Parking brake location

I’m looking at aftermarket parking brake kits as mine was long gone by the time I got the truck. I have the explorer 8.8 so I don’t know if it is worth trying to find a stock handle and buy the cables or but one of the aftermarket kits. There are a few that are reasonably priced but are floor mounted. Has anyone done this and where is the best location on the cab floor when using a stock seat? Thanks.

I used a 70-ish ford truck pedal that mounts next to the kick panel... easy install

Talk to or surf Control Cables. I used them and they were so great to me. And the price was better then I expected to boot.

I was looking at their site earlier and was thinking about their small floor mount on the drivers side between the seat and the door. Wasn’t sure how it would look though.

Parking brakes are amazingly simple once you get past the "this is tricky" part. there are not many different types. They should be able to set you up.

Thanks for the control cable suggestion. I think that will help me solve my parking brake issue on my 48 F3. I have a newer rear end and was trying to figure out how to hook up the brakes. According to their diagrams I should be able to make my system work.

Hey Tigerfan,
Nice game vs Florida this past weekend... starting to look good over there.
We have an 8.8 rear end set up as well.... We used the Ebrake that
came with our 2001 Explorer rear end. We put it down low on the driver's side footwell.

Good luck over there.
