Dang, where'd you get that? I ended up going through Amazon. BD wanted something like $17 for shipping so I ended up just going through Prime.

Just asked 12 Volt Solutions for a promo code and they gave me 10% off on the high idle module. $90 even. Can't beat that.

I like their stuff and had great luck with their remote start so far, but you have to cycle the ignition to make theirs work which I wasn't a fan of. The big thing I'm really not happy about with any of the kits is having to engage the parking brake. I've had those freeze up on me so I won't be setting that overnight for a cold start. I'll have to start it and manually turn on the high idle, not worth the risk.

So are you saying that if we have the high idle enabled and start the truck it won’t start the high idle until the oil is above a certain temp?

  • Engine coolant temp must be above 20 degrees F
  • Transmission temp must be above 20 degrees F
  • Engine must be at stable RPM speed
  • Vehicle speed is zero
  • Vehicle must be in park or neutral
  • Foot off gas pedal
  • Foot off brake pedal
  • Parking brake must be engaged

Didn't say anything about oil on 12volts website.

I installed the BD kit last week & am very happy with it. However, yesterday morning, 10 degrees, when I started the truck that had been plugged in for a couple hours, BD kit off, the idle went straight up to just over 1000. Now I'm wondering if I even needed it? Its nice to keep the idle up when it idles short periods though.
I only have about a 5 mile trip to work & when I got there, in park, the idle was still at 900 or so. So I let it high idle for 10 min or so to get the temps up to where it would idle normally.
Kinda has me wondering what triggers the normal idle settings. ECT or outside temp because when I initially started it the ECT was 48 degrees. When I'd got to work it was at 150. I would've thought she'd idled down at those temps on the ECT.

That's been a standard feature since the 6.7 came out. But it has to be cold enough. Even with that I did the idle up mod on me previous truck. I probably used it more in the warm months then during the bitter cold, since the cold start idle was already there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but looks like you unplug a factory pigtail to plug the BD mod into, what happens if I want to use any other wires from this later? Thanks.

The BD kit does replace the pigtail, the 12V Solutions kit provides a pass through connector/cable. Not sure what you would want to use the remaining wires for though.

Nothing 99% of us will ever need. There are some details available. Search for “SEIC” connector pinout.

They have nothing to do with the upfitter switches or the firewall pass through wires in case you were thinking about those.

I used one of the wires for a switched feed for my dash cam, only because it was convenient.
