I'm confused as well. If you just use an upfitter switch to control the high idle, can you not just park, push the braking brake, and turn on the high idle switch? And then when you're done, move, park, repeat? Or do you have to cycle the ignition every time too? Or is this just with BD switch because it is always set?

The upfitter doesn't require the ignition to be cycled. Turning the upfitter on and off will cycle the circuit and resume the high idle. The same as with the BD switch. The kits like 12v solutions require the ignition to be cycled because you have no way to interrupt the circuit.

But wouldn't the release of the park brake cause an interruption? Your saying you have to turn the truck off and then restart to re-engage high idle on the 12volt solutions model?
For those who are using the BD high idle kit, it states that it "Bypasses auto engine off functions". Does that mean it will idle longer when remote started? I wouldn't think so but wanted to ask. Thanks
For anyone that installs the BD high idle kit on the 2020 or similar SD, I saw another post where this location was selected for the ****/pot/switch. I have to tell you that this is a great location! Thanks to who ever posted that pic.
The install was super easy, I used a fiberglass rod to fish the cable behind the front of the console easy peasy, locating the hole for the control just took some careful measuring since there is some plastic structure behind this area but with a cut out big enough for the back of the pot/switch/harness to slip in.

Testing now...I have no idea..... yet.
My Fordpass app still says "shutting off in < xx min" so not sure what its going to do.
Does the BD have a safe guard built in like 12volt claims? It will not fast idle until oil is at least 20 F., so you don't over rev a cold engine. In my area its common to be below zero (F)

This is a function of the trucks SEIC interface. Has nothing to do with the high idle kit. Even home brew setups will behave the same.

Unless your truck was optioned with auto off it will have no effect. All of our fleet trucks are 10 min auto off. This is not part of remote start its for emissions compliance.

Parking brake doesn't interrupt the ignition wire on the seic. The 12v solutions has no switch so the ignition must be cycled.
Broke down today and bought the BD Diesel high idle kit. Steep for plug and play but time is in short supply these days so this gets me something quick.

Same here, it is costly for what it is but sometimes time is worth more.
