I need help tracking down a Conversion kit for my 65 4x4. I had brake problems with the rear, and after fighting a loosing battle finding the plethora of missing components, I have decided to convert rear to disc. Now, I'm in need of a front conversion kit. I've searched online, and the various threads, but haven't had much luck. Does anyone have any suggestions that may not cost me an arm/leg/first born. I've completely rewired, added AC and power fans, now working on making this ol' girl reliable and convenient to drive.
Thanks in advance.
Converting sounds like a bear and I've never heard of a kit either. Since it won't be stock anyway with you might grab a set of differentials from a newer truck that already has them, you don't even have to go ford. Setting up the mounts would be a lot less work in my estimation. Just be aware of the gear ratios which I don't know if its the same with all 4x4s, if my memory is intact (which is a crap shoot these days) my F250 has 4.56 in the rear and 4.55 in the front and I'm assuming any difference is made up in the transfer case. Am I wrong on that? I'm too lazy to look it up right now but somebody will let us know…
wow way cool forget that, that is a nice looking kit and if it bolts right up it is definitely worth it

Reason: saw deere's post
I don't think there is any simple bolt in axle with disc brakes. Between the drivers side drive shaft and the steering set up, I think any newer axle will require more than just spring pads being welded on to work.

You aren't supposed to use 4x4 on pavement or other non-slip surfaces. Why? Because it is that slippage on gravel, ice, snow, etc. that makes up the difference between front and back ratios. There is nothing in the Transfer Case to allow for these differences in ratio and that is why if you drive it much on pavement in 4x4 you have a great chance of tearing up the Transfer Case.
Those ratios are basically the same
I'll be doing same with my 65 but I bought $700 79 f350 and stripped the frt, rear and steering and drive shafts then sold the rest
Thanks for the help guys. Bought the HP kit with booster and Master. Great kit. The EBay rear, I’m not a huge fan of, but they’re on. Now to run new lines and start that stage.
