Gentlemen I have a '79 F-150 4x4 chassis, that had a 400, I want to put my 300-6 in it. What I need at the moment is pictures, part #'s or any info on the brackets and mounts for a 300 in a '79 F150 4x4. Any help would be appreciated. I should have all the parts from the '66 f250 2wd, but I'm guessing they will all be wrong.
We had problems finding the correct ones. I think most parts houses have the numbers wrong for some reason. We ordered some from Rock Auto and they were wrong, tried some from Oreilly's and they were wrong.
Saw a post on here about using van mounts and narrowed it down to these from NAPA.
Without looking it up, I think that the FE mount-towers are the same as the big six towers, so you need some from a 4WD 360. (Or possibly 352 if Bumpside towers are the same.)
2WD towers won't work.
Your 400 towers are the same as what a 302 would use...
thanks for the info gentlemen, looks like I need to find '79 Fe or 300 stands, or maybe I'll bolt the 2wd stands I have from the '66 to the top of the frame, cut off the bottom and fabricate new bottoms to fit . I'm fabbing everything else so that wont slow me down too much.
The stands for a 360/390 FE are the same as those for a 300. You do, however, need to move the stands towards the radiator to the existing holes. For future reference, you might want to post in the I6 forum on this site. That's where the 300 experts hang out.

Maybe, was thinking it's more specific to the year than the engine.
Well howdy doody I have a 77 F250 4x4 w/351M that dropped a lobe, I was going to put a 300 in that I had in the garage, had nothing but issues with the swap, ended up just rebuilding the top end of the 351 Measly as everything else looked good. I had to buy the perches from a guy for the 300 for $120 + shipping, and one of them had a crack, I welded it, I will sell them to you for whatever you want to pay + shipping
