I am working on finishing up the under dash wiring but I cannot identify what this plug goes to. I’m working on a 1966cc with the original wiring harness but I did not get a picture of this plug when I removed it.
Every accessory or gauge has been hooked up. It had an aftermarket emergency light switch but it was spliced into the turn indicator wiring from the steering column. I removed the switch but I don’t think it relates to this plug. What did I miss?
The colors of the wires are red with black stripe, green with white stripe, white with blue stripe, and white with red stripe.
Don....sorry. It looks like the Wiper plug on my 66. The second one you show, I don't recognize. Maybe differences there...I'm sure someone will clarify.
You stated the e-flasher control was aftermarket and was removed. Did you install the correct e-flasher control?
My gut feeling is that is where that plug goes, but I can check tomorrow in the day light.
I would appreciate it. I do not have an e-flasher control. The emergency flasher hole was plugged by the PO and they installed the aftermarket one on the column. If I can confirm this is what the plug is for I’ll try and find one.
I’m guessing you are correct that because I cannot find anything in the wiring diagrams, at least none I have.
if you can get a picture of your e-flasher control that would be helpful.
Plug that number into rearcounter or partsvoice. Green Sales has 13 now - I have a note here that they used to have 17. Dennis Carpenter NOS has 4 same as when I noted it. I'm not sure if it is being reproduced yet or not. I think I've seen them.
The emergency flasher used the heavy duty Tung Sol 536 12V flasher since it had to flash all four corners at once. The turn signal flasher was not the heavy duty unit but as ND relates they would sometimes install the heavy duty flasher in the location of the turn signal flasher at the dealership for people a bit harder of hearing since it makes a louder clicking noise. The turn signal flasher I commonly saw in use was the Tung Sol 224 - sort of a small blue canister. Search eBay for that and you'll find a few, but certainly the 536 heavy duty flasher same as e-flasher will work.
I'll post a picture of the bezel that was used. It was fairly plain and then the emergency "indicator" next to the switch had the writing on it. Do you have that piece? It has a short bit of connecting wire and a spring for the bulb and the red indicator in the center of the chrome bezel.
Not to thread jack but.....there's no differences in the underdash harness for emergency flashers correct? I've wanted to add them to my truck just because.
The C6TB-14401–DM harness is different than some. With this harness the emergency flasher wiring is "built-in" right up to that plug and the flasher wiring and everything. Other harnesses have a provision to plug in the switch, indicator and flasher as an assembly.
My 1966 F250 2WD truck has them "built-in" since it is after 858,001 - where my 1966 F250 4x4 trucks both before 858,001 - while they both came with emergency flashers from factory - they are the plug-in type of flashers.
At this eBay link is the add-on type of flashers. This has the bracket to support the switch and flasher. This one ad shows the indicator also, which has two single wire plugs that link it in.
