I was looking at this, where does it install? It mentions trimming something, could you explain?

Thanks......... Never knew this existed. I slid the board out of the module and installed a jumper with soldered ends that were ground to fit like a glove. It's in there good, but can't help to wonder in a couple of years if it falls out and lays on the board bouncing around what may happen.

For cpobst........... This harness appears to go between existing connection. Unplug one plug from module (has two) plug adapter harness in to module, other end in to plug. I would think the snipping would be the plastic key used to register the plug when mating both plugs my guess is there's no groove.

It’s under the driver side dash. I “think” you trim a little raised lip off one connector. I don’t remember exactly what it was, sorry.

Take the trim panel off under the steering wheel. Top pulls out and bottom has integral hinge (pull top first), you'll see 2 modules on a metal bracket on the right side. I forget if it's the one on the right or left.

I ordered that wiring adapter. The email confirmation had a very detailed, illustrated install file with it.

Even though mine was done, it bothers me the way I did it. I feel it's a hack way to do it. I could buy a few cigars with that $53 I spent. I'll feel better thou with it done right. That's worth $53.

I have seen videos where people cut the gray wire, which is the Enable signal. Then stick a short jumper wire, or paperclip between two of the connector pins. No need to open the module or solder.

Jumping the pins makes the "enable" pin always have 12v, so they will always work. I just wasnt sure if it could be done without cutting the grey wire so going back to stock would be easier. It would back feed 12v, but not sure if that would cause any harm.

My thoughts exactly about back feeding a circuit, hasn't done anything yet. I didn't want to have a jumper outside as it could be bumped or jostled. I would never use a paper clip. The solder was only for the bare ends and to be able to shape to fit snugly into plug. I don't know why I couldn't get myself to cut the grey wire, but I didn't.

That's why I ordered the custom made wiring adapter.

I still don't know if the grey wire is a triggered enable wire or a feed wire until 6 mph. I never tested it. Could be a ground that is provided until 6 mph.

ok, confused on the website indicated. What wiring harness to order? I have those mirror spot lights and they should stay on if I turn them on darn it.

Never mind, figured it out and ordered the harness. Great find!

I don't think these were intended as "spotlights" but more a light for the close proximity. I turn mine on at the community mailbox to light up the box so I can get the key in and see if how many bills are inside. lol
