Yes a dually pickup axle is wider because it needs to clear the wider frame, but if he has the 34'' frame than the stock axle has enough room for the inside dual wheel. I have even moved the springs in on some F250 pickups and put dual wheels on them.

How did you move the spring in?

I made new spring hangers and moved perches on rear end. My last tow truck was built this way.

A buddy of mine is willing to part with a newer gen dually axle, it's out off a 2005 f350. Now, the question is would it be a bolt on job? or i will need to make some mods or it wont even be compatible? I got 2 different answer from 2 mechanics one said it's an easy job the other says it's not gonna work. Sorry I am reaching out over here due to lack of resources where I live and even the axle going to be shipped out from the other side of the country

The problem with the 05 is a different bolt pattern. Then the frame width is still a problem. If is from a pickup or cab chassis?

The springs are mounted several inches outboard of frame, you only need to move the springs in about a inch on each side to clear the inside dual, so I just made new hangers to move spring in.
