My ignition switch is only 3 years old and it's already gone bad. It won't cut off. With the key in the off position everything still receives power; OIL light is on, ALT light is on, radio stays on etc. I had to disconnect at the battery. If this is typically I either need to buy a six pack or find a better design. Is there a reliable brand I should look for?
What is the brand you have in there now? Save your fellow FTE members from the same fate. I’’ll bet you can find a genuine, made in the U.S., NOS Ford one on Ebay.

Good luck, half the crap you buy today is junk. It's a crap Shoot.
You were right! Found an NOS one for $22, advertised for full size cars. I should have tried that already, I check for NOS parts on ebay almost every day, but you have to use the right search criteria or you will come up empty. I usually include truck or F100 in my searches.
I don't remember which vender I bough it from, probably NPD or LMC but who knows? I didn't expect to need to keep track.
Happy you got one, and cheap, too. Some . . . ahem . . . “thrifty” (read:skinflint) . . . members here would much rather buy 5 cheap-azz ones, than the one pricier one that might actually last them the next 25 years or so.
