Mysterious Bracket

I have a 2016 F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab SWB. Can anyone tell me what this mysterious bracket located on the drivers side rear body mount is/was used for. Nothing attaches to it and is only on the Drivers/Left side.
The reason I ask is can it be removed?

Looks to me like that is for the charcoal canister on a gasser
