Getting some new Mickey Thompson wheels already decided which ones and trying to figure out what I want to do -96 F350 SRW std cab lb 4x4 460 C6 currently have stock steel 16" in wheels with BFG All Terrain's 265x75x16 load range E and looking at some nicer wheels already picked out and wondering whether to stay with 16x8's or go 17x9. Tires right now on truck still good and have good tread left. Any advantage to go to 17's and if so why? I would have to get new tires also just thinking long term. I'm also 50 yrs old in decent shape and truck also more mods coming on engine with PimpX it goes some backwoods etc off road. Have a few cows and 200 acres so it can get muddy etc getting front winch bumper after paint, so Any suggestions are very much appreciated. I know it's a lot for just wheels. Thanks!
I just replied to a similar post yesterday. Here is what I did. When it was time for new tires on my 94 F250 with stock 16" wheels I found that the replacement tires were very pricey new and used were nonexistent. So after a little research, I found the local used tire guy gets lots of used like-new 17" commercial truck tires. I bought a set of 17 X 9 steel wheels and a set of four like-new 265/70R17 for $200.00 mounted and balanced and it's off to the rodeo! Plus the old F250 looks a lot cooler!
In what world are 17s cheaper than 16s?
your 265/75/16 big a/ts are about 197 a tire
a 17" equivalent (265/70/17) are 211 a tire so for a set of 4 that is 56 More
I'm happy for you folks in PA, but in Northern California there are none. I check a one hundred mile radius and all the used tire shops said the same thing, no 16s plenty of 17s.

So, Diesel Brad. Is it just your mission in life to hang out here and discredit other people? Do you not have a life? If you put your energy into something that benefits YOU, maybe you would do BETTER! TROLL ON BRAD!
