I need to replace the spring on my 1966 F100 hand brake assembly. I have the handle completely out of the truck. I am having a hard time removing the pin to pull the handle out of the assembly. I have read on here where two firm taps are enough to remove it. I have hit mine several times real hard and it does not seem to budge. Concerned that I may bend the whole assembly doing so. Any thoughts on how to get it out? I have sprayed it with WD40. Do I just need to preserve? Thanks for any suggestions.
...do you see the hole, opposite the pin, in which to put a punch. It shouldn't be too frozen in there and the shaft is very strong. You could also heat it...that should help.
Or a bigger hammer!?! Hahaha. We knew you could do it. Congrats. I hope nothing bent in the process. It's pretty stout stuff between the tube and the shaft.
