I know this is probably the 100th post about this but I have a 2002 f350 with the 7.3. Since I bought the truck it's always had some trouble starting in cold weather. I live in Colorado so nights here get pretty cold during fall. I've replaced the GPR with a White Rodgers and last night replaced the glow plugs with beru/motorcraft ones. This morning I didn't plug it in and still doesn't want to start. While I was changing glow plugs I checked the pig tails and they are both good (not burned out). If anyone has a solution to this I would definitely appreciate it!
How cold is it? And how much time are you giving the glow plugs? They will run up to 120 seconds max and I give them the full time when it's cold here. Are you sure they're coming on? Can you monitor voltage drop when they come on? My voltage drops a V or more when they are activated and it pops back up a little when they time out.

Right now it is 24° last night got around 18°. I usually let them run for 50 seconds then give it a try. I unfortunately don't have have a voltage gauge on the truck yet.
I should just quit....I need to read the OP better.
Did you say to jump the relay? I put a flat head on the two relay posts for 60 seconds and it started right up I never wanted to try that because I just got the relay a month ago. And I'm a newbe to this diesel stuff my whole family owns 7.3s and a lot of is have this cold start issue and have not clue was it could be.

OK, this indicates that the relay is not activating for some reason and that will not hurt your relay. When you turn the key on, does the relay work? It should click and have power on the large lug on the right.

I put a volt meter on one post reads 12.41 the other is reading 2.0 volts I've never heard the relay click on. Could I have the posts wired wrong?
You may have condition that PCM does not ground the GP relay normally. To fix that, just put a switch to cab that grounds relay manually.Search for the manual GPs mod and led mod..
Here is a picture of the GPR as you will see it looking from the front. The small wire to the rear is the ground and goes to the PCM. Disconnect it and apply ground to that lug on the GPR and see what you get.

Does it matter where I ground it too? I have full power to both little terminals and the battery terminal just not the brown and yellow wires.
If you undid the wires, you really probably don't have power on both little wires. It shows as voltage thru the relay coil without a ground.
years ago, i had an issue with a pcm sending ground to the GPR. I ended up buying a momentary pushbutton switch and running a wire from the gpr ground terminal to the switch and the other terminal on the switch to ground. Push the button as long as you want. crank and drive off.
...But please limit the GP cycle to 120seconds max,as PCM also does..Everything in working order,120sec GPs needed only in freezing temps..
You can also "afterglow",to clear smoke or prevent possible injectors romping..PCM programming does that too.
I prefer toggle switch over momentary push button,in manual GP system.
I have a cold starting issue also. My motor fires right up (without glow plugs) if the block heater has been plugged in for a few hours. What I am finding with the beru/motorcraft glow plugs is this. They appear to have an internal fusible link. If power is kept on them too long, the link burns out long before the end of the glow plug has time to swell up. This feature allows the glow plug to be easily removed without the tip breaking off. I don't know if all beru/motorcraft glow plugs have that feature or just the ones I am dealing with. Mine came from ORilley's and on the receipt it states they are warrantied for 2 years.
I removed glow plug wiring harness and made a crude test bench. Several of the beru/motorcraft glow plugs failed after one week. They were warrantied.
There is a possibility that some of the glow plugs you installed are not working properly. This was the only "test" that I trusted... I am swapping over to dual element glow plugs and fabricating a new wiring harness..
