starting to improve upon my 95 F150 4x4 supercab 5.8. I am a Home buildingsupervisor so i have great acess to construction site mud and land. Should I first lift? I was thinking about 4-6 inches to run 35s right now it has 31x 10.5. going to need new tires soon anyway. or should I put a locker in it for more traction and lift later? Don't want a spool because it is driven 60/40 on road and dirt.
From doing construction sites myself, I say a locker. If you get in a ditch (its tracks) a dozer just went through, you can be two wheels on good ground on one side and the other two buried in a muddy tractionless pit.
I wanted to go witha ez locker I am not a mechanic by any streach but if I can get it apart I can put it back. Will 33" fit a stock F150 I have 31's now and there is not a lot of room let by the looks of it?
I have not tried it on my truck but I knew a guy in high school who had an 85 Bronco (same suspension as an F150) Who ran 33s with no lift and they cleared.
Fenders are different on the 85. I have a picture of a 95 F-150 with 32"s stock in my gallery. I say get a 2" leveling kit, 32's, and locker. I have an ARB air locker in the front axle, as I don't like having an open diff in the back so I am going to put a limited slip in the back. Check to see if you have a limited slip in the back, if so, you should have enough traction for most things. Just keep in mind a locker is pretty harsh to drive on the street unless you get a selectable like the ARB I have.
Lockers are not bad as long as you don't try to accelerate hard around corners. They make it a tad squirrely on ice and snow covered roads. Other than that I wouldn't have it any other way!
yes 33s can fix with out a lift on the fords i have 33/14/15 boggers on a 10 inch wide rim the only time they rub is if the wheels are turnd about one full rotation and hit a hell of a hole
