I have a friend that is a Chevy diehard. Ever since I beat his beloved '66 396 Impala with my Mustang he's hated Fords and takes every chance to bash them. The last thing he said to me was "I hope you like walking in the rain?" I asked why and he responded " because with the distributor mounted up front, the first good puddle you hit it'll die on you..." Yeah... whatever...
Even my Father had the anti-Ford thing going... He wouldn't buy a Ford because the last one he owned was a piece of junk. In '92 before he bought the Bronco I asked what was the junk Ford he owned? 1953 4dr that he owned used in 1959....
I love Fords, and think they're great, but I don't get the whole brand bashing thing. How about everyone else?

(Other Bower here)
I will drive anything (you should see some of the junk-literally-I've brought home). If it cranks and moves it's good for something.
I am not a brand loyalist, I have favorites in many different manufacturers. The Bronco is the best vehicle I ("we," sorry hon) have ever owned. Oddly we were hunting high and low for a Chevy when we found it. We liked that body style Ford but thought it was too old for our loan qualifications. (It was, so we went to a different bank. 2Bowers=2Converts!)
Everyone has their opinions and a lot of us will defend those opinions vehemently. Kinda like the Nascar driver thing- Rusty fans bash Earnhardt fans, everyone bashes Gordon fans, etc. So Ford drivers bash Chevy drivers, everyone bashes Dodge....what it all boils down to is a matter of personal preference and the innate desire to prove that mine is better than yours because...(insert trash talk here)
All cars are a pain in the neck, period. Now that we all know this, which brand do you feel more comfortable with? My personal history has experienced many brands. I have had better luck with Fords, but not all good luck. If I won a lottery and could go out and buy a new vehicle tomorrow, it would be a Mercury Marauder.
I like ford and thats all i have had. I know more about fords over dodge and chevy so I stick with them because they all breakdown at some point or another.
i like ford the best, but as long as its origin is american, ill drive it. no imports for me. everyone at school gives me crap for having a ford and says how much better their chevys or dodges are, yet ive seen so many of their trucks on the side of the road or sittin in the shop getting one thing or another fixed when ive had my Ford for 7 months which is longer than most of them have had their trucks and never had a problem with mine.
I bleed blue. I will drive anything else, but I wouldnt buy anything but ford. I grew up working on a 76 F-150 with a 429. Then I got the mustang, my mom has an explorer, now my truck. My sister had a 87 corolla, and it was nothing but problems and she finally cracked a cylinder. Turned me off the older imports. Moms BF has a 95 240SX and it is a spirited little car, but we havent put it through its paces yet..... I gotta fix the brakes first.
I grew up knowing only Chevy was the best to drive. Once I got my Duster I turned mopar. When I went looking for a more economical (read: dependable) I wasnt even looking to get a V8 car. I looked at everything, but kept coming back to my 95 4.6L T-Bird. Im sure once I pick up my F-100 ill be Ture Blue.
I dont really have a preferance. I bash on Chevy more then anything. But I would never not consider driving one of their vehicles. I agree with Texan1983 Whatever I can get with what little money I have at the time.
i really like anything that's american. I'm not a big fan of import cars at all.
Personally i tend to stick with gm....older gm. These days there's no such thing as chevy, pontiac, olds, its really just all gm. I just like gm because i work for them and i get access to alot of technical information on the cars, which helps me alot when i work on them.
But i like ford too. I think ford is actually a superior product to gm these days. my 2003 grand marquis is just about the best car i've ever had.
I vote foe "Ford, but If I had too I'd drive something else" 'cause....if my truck dies (e.g engine fault) it's a huge problem to get a new one so I have no choise --til I get a new truck , but unfortunetely do we have a very thin market for Ford F-Serie here.
Different companies for different applications in my opinion. After having so many, I wouldn't have anything else but a Ford truck. Muscle cars,,,Chevy/Mercury. Sports cars,,,british or german. Only the cream of the crop for me
When I am in the market for a vechicle, I only shop at my Ford dealer. However, if Ford was purchased by a foreign company (i.e. Dodge/Chrysler) I would buy a GM product. I feel is very important for me to support American products (which supports my neighbors who may work/invest here).
Of course, Ford makes to best truck. Ford makes the best affordable muscle car. Ford makes the best SUV's. Ford is making the best sports car (GT). Ford vechicles are easy to work on (I have never had any problems that I couldn't fix myself-in the last 20 years). Replacement parts are affordable. Resell values are much better than the foreign brands. AND, I have found that other Ford owners are men and woman of intelligence, good taste, and fun to be around.
I always prefer ford just because of the way the vehicles I have had took care of me....but I guess if it came down to it and I had to drive something else...I would.
