Hello all and let me introduce myself since this is my first post to FTE.
this is Big Red, my grandfather’s truck and I’m BuddyRoeaux. I was given this truck and I am doing my best to keep ole red as original as possible. It has a A.R.A. Speed control vacuum cruise control and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it will not engage.
can anyone shine some light on what I need to look for? I tried looking up a service manual online but I’ve had no luck.
does the speedometer cable connect to/through any part of the speed control?
with the absence of any manuals, you might just have to do some basic troubleshooting like is there any power to the components, continuity through the controls switches, etc....
And welcome to FTE while we're at it! Stunning truck you've got there!
Looks like grandpa took super good care of it and so are you. Is that it's original paint, or a re-spray at some point in it's life? Either way, great looking rig.
Sorry I don't have any insight on your speed control. Does it also have any vacuum lines going to it? Or is it all electrical?

I does have the odometer cable passing through and a different cable to the transmission. That said, I did check for power only to find it is not receiving any voltage to the unit. I followed the lines to what looks like a voltage step down blue box that has busted wide open( guessing from being over 40 years old). This is probably where my problem lies but now it to search for this piece.
The Truck was a survivor but my father and I decided to give the truck the TLC it deserves and we did a off body restoration to it. We had it painted 3 years ago and I have been doing the routine maintenance to it since.
