I pulled my Power steering pump, bracket, and steering gear yesterday in preparation for the saginaw upgrade and a rebuilt steering gear.
I already purchased new shorty headers that I wanted to put on since I have a tick on the passenger side.
Will I be able to swap just the one side while I am in there and drive the truck until I get around to the passenger side? I plan on doing leveling springs and new shock towers at the same time as I do the passenger side.
Do you have air in head or air in manifold? Do you currently have any air injection tubes on the driver’s side? The EGR on a 5.8L is on the passenger exhaust manifold. There shouldn’t be anything plumbed into the driver’s side that I’m aware of.
You are 100% correct. Got it done this weekend Only took about an hour and a half to swap out the manifold. So pleased that none of the bolts snapped off.
The nuts for the engine bracket were past corroded and gone, but a torch made short work of that.
My only question is in regards to the connection at the y-pipe.
I got the Fel-pro gasket set for the headers. It came with two donuts and two flat oblong gaskets. The original manifolds didn't have any gaskets were it met the y-pipe. Do I just shove those donuts in there and crank her down, or are these for a different application?
