Transmission issues

I have a 2012 f 250 king ranch, and over the last couple of weeks it has started to develop a hard down shift from 5th to 4th and a delay when going from reverse to drive. It has also started shuddering some when I go to put it in drive, you can feel and hear it try to engage in a forward gear but it will go back and forth for a few seconds and then it'll take gear and be fine. I have taken it to the shop and tried to replicate the problem but itll only do it when its cold. They did do a diagnostic scan on it and everything checked out. Im trying to find other solutions besides rebuilding the transmission, which is the first thing they suggested. Has anybody dealt with this ?

Its sticking solenoids, was the transmission by chance recently serviced? This issue is also common with incorrect fluid type.

It has been doing this for a few weeks now. I did a fluid and filter change trying to make it better.

Does anybody have part numbers for the solenoids?

Forgive me if this sounds too simple, but just covering the basics.

Did you put Mercon LV in the trans, and is the fluid level correct when hot?

The whole valve body gets replaced as a whole, then the VB calibration needs to also be flashed.

How many miles on the truck? After i had a flush and fluid change on my 2008 350 5.4 at 92k miles. the tranny started to do what you are describing, but ended up working itself out. I went to google/youtube to look into what might be the problem AFTER a flush and fluid change.

I guess sometimes on a high mileage tranny, a flush can knock some debris loose in the tranny causing it to shift weird.

The dude on YT does a much better job of explanation that I ever could.
