I hate re-work!
I will try it again in the AM after I get the smoker going.
Lossen the upper bolts on the drivers side. disconnect the manifolds on the bottom again.
Try to position the clamp down around the B-Butt. One problem I am having is I can't tell if it in the correct position or not.
My problem might be that I missed locating the bottom of the clamp. I will see If I can get the camera there from bottom prior to taring it down in the AM.
Thanks guys!
This is all all done by feel. You can’t see it and touch it at the same time....
I think there are good pics in my write up?
Then you've got the body on the floor over here, the frame stripped over there, the entire dash splayed apart on the floor over yonder, and the engine on your modifed stand enabling 360 degree access (for more painting).
It's hardly a fair comparison to the blind reaching that the rest of us mere mortals must endure.
My guess is you don’t have the clamp out of the way.
Maybe remove turbo and preposition the clamp the way I show in my write up and try again?
Ive done this job probably 100 times and have never been beaten by it. Admittedly, it is a PITA because you cannot SEE what you’re working on very easily. Take a break when you get frustrated - anger never helps it go together. Zen is required here. Lol.
Good luck, you’ll get this!!

Good luck! You’ll get it.
When I was forced to perform this task, I would leave the nuts on the manifold bolts, but only a couple of threads on. Then I would slide the clamp down onto the collector as far toward the manifold as I could before installing the turbo. I would use a bungee cord, piece of 2x4 or a plastic wedge (similar to a prybar, but not abrasive) in order to keep the collector and turbo union as close and secure as possible because I don't have three hands and arms. You need to use a good deal of "blind looking" with your hands to see if the clamp is on before starting to secure it in place. Before completing the tightening process on the clamp, be sure it is properly seated as you don't want to crack a flange on the collector or turbo.
Fitting or test fitting parts that were not previously mated together is a great idea and a practice that should be adopted when possible. When I was installing my turbo, I test fit just about everything and did a few of them several times when out of the truck. Even high end pieces can have a flaw in them and should be test fit, it happens. Anything made by humans can and will break or can be flawed.
As the other fellas said, you will get it! You will have learned a great deal about the process and can share your lessons learned and wisdom with those that are accomplishing this same task one day. Keep at it and maybe today is the day you get to shout "VICTORY!"
Why am I a glutton for punishment???? Well, I feel bad for the guy who has been passed around like a hot potato and paid ‘mechanics’ waaaay too much money to NOT fix his truck. I am too stubborn to give up and too proud to send it back still broken...
But, I’m too old and gimpy to pull 24hr shifts of increasing frustration to get something back on the road for a deadline.

Its less expensive too!
When I went to install it, I left the pedestal loosely attached and all of the exhaust disconnected. It did not feel any different from the last try, it looks about the same, but this time it worked. I did a quick test drive, she will produce at least 28lbs of boost on an on ramp, it's not leaking so that's one in the win column boyz. This kit is from ebay or amazon I don't remember it been siting around for over a year. It looked good, but it did not cost much It says PSD on the pipes. It may have been hanging up on the 4", or maybe the pedestal was in the wrong position. When I pulled the pas side down pipe there was a rub mark on it.
Thanks for all the hand holding. it's been so much fun. That last pic is from my 4th attempt.
