I have a 73 Ford P400 with a 300ci inline 6. Its GVW is 10k. It is DRW with 4.88 ratio gears. It doesn't currently have a receiver, but I want to add one and use it to tow some of my toys. I can't find any tow capacity specs for it. What do you think it could safely tow?
With the right hitch I don't see why you could not pull say a trailer with a full size car on it, 5K+
At that weight and anything over think its 2500 you need trailer brakes.
My 81 F100 with 300 six and granny 4sp is the back up to pull my 21' open deck car trailer (about 1000lb) and the race car of 3200lb.
BTW don't be in a hurry with that 300 pulling anything, it will do the job just not fast.

Thanks! That sounds promising. My enclosed cargo trailer loaded with 4 ATVs is probably my heaviest tow at about 5000-5500lb. I haven't weighed my pontoon boat but I'm sure its less than the ATV setup, although it doesn't have trailer brakes.
I would say the say on the boat being lighter even if it is bigger.
Do any of the pontoon trailers have brakes? I am not up on boat trailers but think some use a surge brake setup?
Just take your time, look down the road farther and leave more room for stopping and you should be good.
