I am installing the dpf delete pipe with the mini Maxx tuner, do I have to mess with the EGR or can I leave it alone? Do I have to install the block off plates?
The tune will disable the the egr and there are three plugs you just have to unplug, see video. In regards to the EGR post weight loss, you can
1. unplug the 3 plugs and call it a day
2. unplug and install block off plates
3. physically remove entire egr
Link below has a good basic summary about dealing with the EGR
With the Mini Maxx can you use the tunes that come on it to delete the dpf and egr? Without having to add any other time to it, all I want to use the tuner for is to pretty much cancel all the codes
I don't have experience using the Mini Maxx so the following is what i've read from browsing the forums. The MIni Maxx used to come with canned tunes that could delete dpf & egr but then H&S got hit by the EPA and folks are saying the Mini Maxx could no longer support delete. Not sure if this will be case with your Mini Maxx because apparently there are still new leftover Mini Maxx's for sale that have the delete tunes on em and maybe you have one of those,.
At this point, there's two ways to find out:
1. Plug in the Mini Maxx and play around with it and see if it mentions any options or settings about emissions off
2. Plug in the Mini Maxx and unplug the egr; if it doesn't throw a code you're good to go, if it does, then you'll need some 3rd party delete tunes.
Again, H&S got hit by the EPA so the Mini Maxx is no longer supported and the only support is from the seller or from asking people online. Proceed at your own risk.
That is correct. Plug in Mini Maxx and flash the truck and see if there are any CEL or codes. If not, start by unplugging the egr and check again to see if there are codes or CEL. If these are still no codes or CEL, then finish unplugging and removal of egr and dpf.
Do I need to plug it in and see if it asks anything about emissions before I unplug anything on the egr or the dpf?
You have to first install the tuner before you do anything... It also requires an add-on code that has to be purchased... I know this was required way back when they were in business and sold these... I bought mine in early 2011 for my 6.7L, and have used it with tuner delete and with full delete... That video from the earlier response will guide you...
I am new to all of this, if you don’t mind will you explain what you mean by flash the truck?
When you plug it into the OBDII port key on engine off it will come to life and go step by step... I say this from personal experience as I have used it for 9+ years and counting...
