I keep hearing about the people with problems. I've got 11000 miles on mine and I want to know how many people are driving thiers today and are still trouble free.I'm talking about not having to leave the truck at the dealers overnight.
I,ve had the latest flash, went to Moultrie,Ga. from Dade City ,Fl. ran great until about 10 miles from Moultrie, than I thought I was on a wash board. Took it to Hutson Ford and was told I needed two new injectors,I said put them in! Service Manager said it would be Thursday or Friday before he could get them in. This was early Tuesday AM!! We were told no courtesy van or loaner. We were screwed. we were only two miles from the dealership!Funny thing the engine cleaned up and we pulled our 28' Holiday Rambler home,That was about 7-days ago. Still running great.I'm not getting my hopes up. this has happened before. Next week I pick up my new 2004 King Ranch and this 2003 is history!!!
4500 miles of 60% mt roads 40% fwy not a spec of trouble. I did an oil change at 3500. The last time the truck saw a dealership was the day I bought it
So far, so good! 6500 miles, one oil change, latest flash, no troubles, big smiles all around! It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a vehicle so much.

~2500 miles. no visits to dealer, tho may take in at ~5-6k to have Oil changed (maybe reflash then? dunno).
first real truck ever (had beater s10 in college), and LOVE it (coming from a grand[pa] marquis).
almost wished i'd bought vs. lease..., but am already looking forward to my MY05 lease, then the NEW bodystyle in MY07... (maybe take 2nd mort at THAT time and BUY?)
I'm very happy you all are satisfied with your 6.0 ,but my experience has not been pleasant. I'm hoping my 04 -6.0 is what I hope it is, I'm still a very stanch Ford supporter. amacki4353
7700 miles and no problems except the rough idle that started after the first oil change. Like all sophisticated engines, the key seems to be keeping the mechanics hands off of it.
Example: When I returned the truck fo the initial service the dealer also still owed me for my first tank of diesel. No problem they said, we "will fill it up while it is here". They did.
So, when I drove it home it seemed like I could smell oil fumes. I opened my hood and found the oil filler cap laying on the fan shroud... not good. The next day I started the truck and discovered my first rough idle - apparently the injectors don't like the 15W-40 oil much. A couple days later I went to top off the tank and found the diesel fill cap was very, very loose.
I took a perfectly good truck in and their "mechanics" caused several problems. I will do the rest of the servicing myself (as I have always done in the past.
15,000 miles, 2 reflashes, runs better after each one. Just had the rear main replaced, but I love this truck! I have always been a Chevy man, never really cared for Fords. I bought a 2001 F150 Supercrew because the dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse, really liked it but needed more towing ability and got the 6.0. Even with the minor "teething" problems, it's hard to beat. Evceryone needs to remember, when you buy a new ly developed vehicle, there are going to be bugs. I had a '98 C5 'vette that was a rocket ship, but it left me on the side of the road twice.
A few problems but 2 flashes later and all is well have to have windshield replace due to factory defect has chip missing from inside of wind shield upper passenger corner presently has 3000 miles on truck
Little smoke on startup every now and then. But I know the reason why it does it, so it doesn't concern me at all.....Other than that, truck runs like a raped ape!
Two reflashes (the Sept. & Oct. ones) Fixed all rough idle, mpg problems - in shop less than 2 hours each reflash. ONly thing now is the dreaded oil drip on the bellhousing. Wiped off several times and keeps coming back so will probably be in shop soon. On othe board did see someone thinks their dealer found another potential source of the leak other than the rear main seal so I'll check tonight his suggested location of the leak and go from there.
Very happy with my 6.0. It will never see the dealership if I have anything to do with it. I have just installed an Airaid air box and filter on my X. No troubles.
