Power Mirrors

So I decided to swap out my hard to control chrome mirrors with power mirrors. Thanks to 56panelford for inspiration.

I want to make a gasket for where the mirror body meets the door.

Anyone know how to make a rubber mirror gasket?

Looking for something like this - but not this shape...

I'm not sure it's anything I would want but they seem to fit nice and are appropriately shaped . Most gaskets I believe are more of a plastic but I don't see why an inner tube wouldn't make a good gasket . What are they off of ?

The top part of it is off of a Honda Del-sol. I know, I know but I like the shape of them. I modified the bottom part to fit the door.

I made the internal steel mounting parts.

I used the stock mounting location so if I decide to, I can go back to stock.

They look pretty good, did you have much to do to the base to make them work..

I made a bracket with a bar in the stock location with a piece of angle iron welded to it for the mirror to mount on.

This picture is the angle iron clamped to the bar for mock up. The mirror is mounted with 3 screws.

There is another piece from the original mount that I used to help hold the mirror and mold the bottom. Not sure if I have any pics of that.

Did you put a gasket on yours or are they mount without?

This is the lower piece. I cut it where the red line is. I then mounted to whole thing to the bracket. I needed that piece to mold the lower fiberglass part.

That's a great idea, I like it. I would use perhaps a piece of old inner tube for a gasket.

My Dad's favorite gasket material! Of course that was back in the days before tubeless tires and RTV...

try a tire shop. Some trailer tires still have inner tubes. I used one to cover inner fender panels on the m2 conversion. I kept the tube around. I should do those mirrors. They look great.
