Well y'all I did it. Lately with the problems I'd been having with my F150 my wife and I were starting to have the conversation of how much do I really want to keep this truck? Especially something this big when I'm not really using it as it was intended to be used. With the 8' bed this thing was a straight up work horse and I'd been using it basically as a commuter vehicle. Back and forth to work and the annual trip to the lake where it get good and dirty. Well this year we didn't even do that because of the Covid-related economy. I came to the realization that at this point in my life a truck had become an expensive luxury, not a necessity. So I started shopping for something smaller. Last night I came home with this used Ford Taurus: a 2012 Taurus with only 35k on the odometer and just over $11,000 out the door with everything. Cheaper to own and operate, and a lot more comfortable!
I'll miss having a truck and do plan on getting another used Ranger in a few more years. But I'm done buying new trucks, they just ain't worth the money.
low miles so should lasts forever... My problem is as you approach 70 years old you dont BEND as good as you once did... and getting in and out of a CAR is too much work !! . ......... son has a Taurus... nice car, but i feel like im laying in a recliner.

Man, ain't that the truth! It's like an aerobic class trying to get out of my wife's little Mazda 3. Every time I ride in it I feel like my azz is dragging on the road.
Opposite situation with me, my wife has trouble climbing up into the truck, uses a step-stool. I on the other hand, feel like my feet are in a mummy style sleeping bag with our Fusion.
I've been driving this car now for a couple of days. It does ride really nice! And though it's not the SHO she definitely feels like she's got some juice to her 😁. My wife wasn't there when I bought it but I had her full blessing. So she hasn't ridden in the car or driven it yet. I'll take her out tomorrow and let her drive it a bit.

Because I bought the car out of state I still need to register it and get it inspected. Upon registering the car I'll need to pay the whole sales tax up front. Apparently Ohio car dealers don't collect PA state sales tax. That'll be about $700 at one time. I hadn't anticipated that going into this but now I know.
No just FWD. I'd driven a couple over the years too and always liked them. So when we decided that I would get a sedan, the Taurus was on the short list of what I wanted. I thought about a Focus too for the fuel economy but I realized that if I have to pound the miles on this car I want to be comfortable. Furthermore, almost anything is going to be an improvement over the trucks gas mileage! 😁
