The older engines weren't called oil burners for nothing.

Use of ATF in diesel fuel as beneficial to injectors is anecdotal at best. Just because the OP used ATF and had no injector trouble for 235K does not mean the ATF is responsible for his good fortune.

Use of 2 stroke oil or ATF to fix a sticky injector is not anecdotal. It was common practice back in the day and it did work.

My '11 is at 272k miles. It's only ever had fuel in it. And on RARE occasions, a bottle of Lucas fuel additive.

The new systems are made for new fuel.

Don't put anything else in it

Ad they were mechanical injectors back then Or maybe a HUEI injector. But not todays Common Rail systems

True, but I also know it would help injector balance rates on early generation duramaxes (common rail, pre-emission)

I'll agree with this statement as well. ATF is also helpful for freeing up stuck metering valves in the old Bosch rotary injection pumps used in Ford IDIs before the powerstroke.
