03 built 04 MY. Never been wrecked or had any body work yet the doors on just the right side kick out like this. Hood wasn't bolted down straight neither and the paint is flaking off the green primer all over the body.
I attempted to wash the cab floor out one day using normal hand soap and a soft brush. I WASHED THE PAINT OFF! The water turned white as I did, lol.
Is this a production flaw or what? How can I get the doors straight? They open and close fine.
Are you for real?
I think if your truck looks that good after 17 years, it's an indication of EXCELLENT build quality. Seriously, whatever defect you think you see, is not large enough to worry about, and certainly not on a truck that old. Now if you want to get picky on a new truck, and argue those things during the pre-delivery inspection, and refuse delivery over them, then I guess it's a conversation worth having, but barely.
Remember all the GM cars. that when 15 years, just lost their paint? Wash your vehicle and it is down to the galvanizing? Seems paint is made to last about 15 years, unless you keep it in the garage.

I have a 01 Silverado and the clear coat is like that. But the paint in the cab doesn't just "wash off" and the doors aren't kicked out either and it's 20 years old with 230k on the clock. Paint that is not exposed to elements and kept inside such as a cab floor shouldn't just come off with soap and water. My Silverado didn't. Other vehicles I've done like that didn't. This is a build and material quality issue. And for two doors that are hardly used on a truck with 65k, they shouldn't be kicked out or sagging. And I wouldn't buy a new truck. Can get a house for what they want now...
Cruiseomatic, maybe I am older than you, but early 90's GM pickups were famous for just shedding their paint. I had a 04 Silverado in excellent condition until yesterday when I discovered it has been stolen.
I'm gonna just agree with everyone else. Your truck is 17 years old, the paint is going to eventually start to peel and come off, it's the nature of automotive paint.
I don't see what you're referring to on the doors - IIRC the back of the door should be out a little more than the next piece of steel because it helps with aerodynamic drag and wind noise.
For a 17 year old truck and one picture taken between the truck and the building, it looks amazing. I don't think you're going to find anyone who would consider normal wear and tear a defect.
Kinda laughing, I had a mid 70's corvette that was purchased and parked, the guy died before being able to enjoy it, when I got it home and showed some friends my "trophy car" I had several say WOW nice car, then there where the ones who said whatever body shop worked on that car should be put out of business.
Yes it had the typical 3/16" to 1/2" gaps at the door lines, well all over.... This is just how it was, making it perfect would have ruined the value of the car.
A almost 20 year old truck that look that good should be acknowledged, I mean its a truck, a workhorse and I assume it has something in the neighborhood of 250k+ miles?
