Motorcraft DEF manufacturing date

Does Motorcraft put date of manufacture on their bottles like Peak Blue DEF does?

I just bought a 2.5 gallon jug from Ford and its pretty dusty on top.I was trying to find out how fresh it was before i put it in the truck but wasn't really seeing anything obvious.

Any insite on where to locate a date?

Date code should be on the box.

I have used DEF that is over 3 years old and stored in my truck tool box with no issues and I live in the deep South, Alabama.

I would just use it and then buy the cheap stuff at wally world, it is the same stuff.

Use the ford filler spout for all the jugs, it will fit and does not leak.

Thanks for the reply,The jug just came by itself,No box....The only thing I see printed anywhere on it says,102119 up kinda by the cap.So does that mean 10-21-2019???

The only reason I asked is because I don’t drive my truck much and am one of the lucky ones that don’t need it in the winter so it sits all winter out of the elements.I just wanted the freshness stuff cause it will be in the tank for a LONG time.

if it just sits, unless it needs it don't add it. Store the DEF indoors to prolong it.

yes....the number is the date as you thought.

My truck sits most of the time also. I rarely add DEF. Maybe add it yearly.

ok,I’m at about a 1/4 tank left.I know some say it helps Some say it doesn’t,but I was just trying to keep the tank heating element submerged all the time.

I read one of your comments when I first did a search about this that you run yours down to about 200 miles or so and haven’t had any problems.

Thanks Just strokin for clarification on the date!

Yes no issue in the seven years I owned my 2013. I just traded to a 2020 this August. I ran that one down to about 300 to empty and filled it.

x2 to above. I just bought 4 jugs at Wally World. Put one in which filled up my tank. I put in 2.5 gals every 3k miles or so. I'll have to be careful next fill up because it will be cold. Don't want to overfill and possibly crack the neck of the DEF tank. I'll use those 3 jugs within 6 months. I keep them in the closet leading to our basement.

For Ford DEF, they actually use a normal date code and it's the date of manufacture? Peak and the CAT crap use that funky date code and it's a year after it was made for whatever reason.

Anyone use that new Peak Platinum DEF? Havent really considered it due to cost, but it claims to be the latest and greatest thing since sliced bread

And what does it do that poverty DEF doesn't do and hasn't done for many years...other than make your wallet a little thinner? Actually, I'm very surprised that there is not a DEF additive.
