Looking for the exploded view. Yesterday the shift collar broke ....inside....the column. So today I have to disassemble, go to jy to try and find a replacement and reassemble so I can go to work tomorrow.
Im looking for just that collar. Not the complete column. I checked previously and my local jy does not have any auto steering columns. What other vehicles would use tge same collar? I have two 75-79 cars there and a number of 80-90 pickups. Im hoping the collar is the same in something. That broken piece. I hopling to replace that component. Other wise it is a 2 hour trip one way to a different jy.

The aftermarket should have replacement collars, if not the Ford truck parts vendors. Used to be a common item in the Help! parts section. An ebay search will probably turn up an assortment of them.
Well I found a column at a jy a couple hours away. It is a fixed ( non-tilt) auto with the correct speed control buttons. It is swapped in and drove the truck today to work. I did a couple of maintenance things before putting it back in. I pulled the lower bearing, wd40 it, compressed air it dry and sprayed white lithium grease into the bearing. Then packed the cavity with wheel bearing grease before replacing the lower bearing. Also sprayed where the shift arm exits the column really good. Spray wd40, air, move arm by hand. Repeat many times until the shift arm moves VERY easy. Did the same up where the gear selector arm is by the steering wheel. Gear selection is nice and easy now. The gear selector collar where the roll pin is wollowed out some so I still need to be carefull but moves nicely.
Now I need to find the parts to rebuild my original column and tighten up the tilt feature.

This is a difficult project. Make sure you take your time and take LOTS AND LOTS of photos.
