I've looked on here for my answer and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. i have an 85 f250. I'm looking to put different rims and tires on, however they the back spacing is less than the current rims on it now. is it bad practice to run a 1-2 inch spacer on heavier trucks? I'm not a fan of them to begin with but my options are limited right now. any help would be appreciated. thank you.
Me I would not run a 1" spacer on anything I owned and never on a 250+ truck.
I do have 1 car with a 1/4" spacer so the after market wheel clears the brake caliper but the dealers did this back in the day on the same cars.

1-2 inches are pretty hefty. I understand where you are coming from, but I would also warn against it. It might work, BUT if there is a problem you are going to have a hell of a time. So I would also strongly advise against it.
The only spacers id run would be steel ones, seen too many aluminum ones fail. But they fetch roughly 600-1000$ a set...which will go real far towards a set of correct wheels.
Stahl, and arrowcraft are a couple brands that come to mind.
