interior lights idea?

After my first long trip I noticed that in my XLT there is no real light for the cup holder area on my center console. I dont want to turn on dome lights to grab a drink etc from the console at night. I started looking around a bit and stick on LED strips seemed a bit wonky so I came across
LED "bolts". So I got one of the LED bolts in 6mm from the link below. On a PC power supply I connected it to 12 volts and it was far too bright. So I used a small buck transformer to allow adjusting the voltage down to see if I could get the brightness right. Well with the transformer
I was able to dial it back and found 3.0 to 3.5 volts the level I think I need. I intend to put the LED up in the console near the upfitter switches and let it shine down. At 0.021 amps of draw I could add more if desired as the transformer is good for 4 amps of 12v. I can also further adjust
the voltage if needed later to adjust brightness.

The question here is can I connect the transformer to an upfitter switch and turn on the "console" light as needed? I could just pull from the parking lights but I want separate control other than adding another switch with a parking light connection. It seems I will need to run a wire
from the upfitter box under the hood back in to power the transformer but it should never draw even one amp so I dont see a problem with the setup but want to see if others that have used the upfitters or added a "console" light have thoughts.

I have seen muted lighting for Super duty cup holders somewhere. Colored what you want. My ex wife's Continental has it, along with color choices for all the illuminated points in the vehicle. I wonder if the higher trim level Super duty's have them.

I believe the first 3 upfitters are 15 amp so there would be no problem powering the circuit.

.
My 2020 Platinum has accent lighting around the cup holders. It’s adjustable brightness in the menu.

They have small LED push button lights that can be recharged with USB and small stick tape to hold in place.
might be easier/faster to stick a tiny one near the cups that doesn't light up from roof to cup.
This way you just push the button to use for the few times you would use it. No worry about draining truck battery in case you leave on by mistake .

I used one like this in the rear of one of my EV cars that I only needed for night time and didn't feel like playing with the electrical stuff.

Just a thought
