It seems that my biggest question perhaps can’t be answered with photographs. This question relates only to double doors.
On the back of the lock cylinder there must be some kind of little piece called the lever, or so I believe. My van has latching mechanisms in the double doors, but no lock cylinders or anything that would mount to them.
I purchased lock cylinders, and then, at the instruction of the ebay seller, I purchased lock levers and springs and retainers. Apparently the springs are for attaching the levers to the cylinders. I now have these parts, but I don’t know in what orientation the levers should be mounted on the lock cylinders (there seem to be two options) and how the lever interacts with the latch. Is there some kind of link rod between the two, or the does the lever just move up and interfere with the latch mechanism when the door is locked?
I can’t see the back of the lock cylinders with the mounted levers in any of your photographs.
Thanks a ton. This information is really not very available out there. I wouldn't even know where to find another first gen econoline to look at.

When I insert and turn the key however, it doesn’t do anything as far as locking or unlocking the door. Also, when i turn the key it turns the lever up or down, but the key and lever must always return to the neutral position before I can remove the key. I have tried the lock in my side doors, which have a handle and button/rod inside and my back doors which have a handle outside only, and I cant get either one to lock, although the latching mechanisms work fine on both.
Any tips or insights? Am I still missing parts?
This is the correct orientation, right?
