Hello all... brand new member here. I joined the forum as I am about to place an order for a F250 XLT CCSB 4x4 with the 7.3, my first ever Ford. I've been crawling through the forums, as well as the build-price tool since it opened for the 2021 model year, finalizing my recipe.
Looking at the model compare page on Ford's web site, it appears the "8 inch productivity screen" is an available option on the XLT. This is the instrument cluster screen, not the infotainment screen.
However, there's nothing the build and price tool that would indicate how you get it. I've also scoured the "Order Guide" pdf and don't see any combination that would put the 8" screen in the XLT instead of the 4.2"
Does anyone know- 1) is the 8" instrument screen really an option in the XLT? and 2) if so, how do you get it?
I’m not sure what package is necessary to get the 8” instrument cluster or how much the option would be, but I as well as many others just bought one from Dave @clustersbylivinitup and installed it myself. Takes minutes to install. Go to his website clustersbylivnitup .com. Not sure if he can do 2021’s yet but hit him up to see.
Is that also the only way to get the 360 camera views?
Yes, the only way to get the 360 cameras on XL/XLT/Lariat is to get the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System package, which includes Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
That's what prompted me to ask on here. The ordering guide doesn't show it, but if you put the XLT into the compare screen on Ford.com, it shows it as an available option. And of course, local sales guy is "not sure".
I too am building imaginary trucks. The real one should be here next summer barring any more Covid shutdowns.
As to the order guide, and the build tool for that matter, they are about 98.5% accurate. I think the 8" cluster is not shown as an option because you can't just say "I want that cluster" and get it. You have to get the SYNC3 (which comes with XLT anyway) and the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System w/Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
I have tried and failed to correlate the fancy cluster with diesel, 10 speed tranny, trim packages and all sorts of stuff and best I can tell the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System w/Pro Trailer Backup Assist will get you that cluster. I took a test drive just the other night and the XLT F250 6.2 CCSB had the "type 2" 4" cluster, I decided that wasn't too bad because the numbers on the tach went "all the way around" which is what I am used to on my F150. I rather have the 8" screen because I'm a bit nearsighted. So I'll be happy with either one.
Off topic but while we're talking options: This truck had power seats. I have been wondering it that was worth the $1480 Value package. When I got into the truck I couldn't see over the dash. (I'm 6'0") I tinkered with the seat controls (in the dark) and the seat tried to swallow my butt. Then it spit me out again and happened to land just right for comfort and visibility. Best seat I ever sat in. So I'm spending the $1480.
Follow the link and look at image #5 you will see this truck has the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System package, with Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The **** is clearly visible. On a personal note none of the trucks I have seen with this cluster had the Tremor package. One could assume a properly equipped Tremor would get this cluster.
