My 2000 7.3L popped up with this error code today. "Code P16070 - when the engine is running the PCM did not detect a signal on the electronic feedback signal circuit during self-test". She started up today - but very slowly and some of the dash lights clicked and flashed when starting similar to when the batteries are going dead. Started her 2 more times this afternoon and no issues whatsoever. Checked the batteries and alternator - all are good. Has anyone else had this issue?
That might be a reasonable starting point then. The factory original replacements can be had to find and pricey, so most people make their own with welding cable and copper lugs. I recommend crimping and soldering for extra insurance of a quality connection. If I remember correctly Sous did a nice set a while back, looks nice and clean.
Or start by inspecting the cable. The Blueberry Koolaid can be cleaned off, then apply spray-on battery terminal protectant. That might be all you need but if the corrosion has travelled up the cable underneath the covers it is probably best to replace them.
And just to cover all the bases inspect under the driver side harness that runs up to the big square 42 pin connector. The wires can rub on the valve cover and cause shorts. Layer of electrical tape and some split heater hose can fix that.
