revlimiter question

so i have a 1999 ford expedition 5.4l 2v has about 219xxx miles and ive frequently been to the danger zone with the tachometer and the revlimiter sound unusual to other fords of that year mine for instance bounces one or twice then three time then one time then about three time its all in its out world it seem mind you i never take my foot off the petal so i was wondering if the is a common is/ fix to this i just want a normal revlimiter

In neutral or while driving?
At what RPM is the rev limiter kicking in?

Yeah the transmission should change gears before you get to the limiter. Maybe a weak fuel pump?

Yesterday, when I drove and took happy from sound of my new exhaust, and I vibrations. I stopped and I wanted to see under car and I saw that my gear indicator was between N and D. It was the reason. I pushed it fully to D and all problem with RPM and noise were gone.

Maybe you have something with gear selector ??
