Paint or Engine?

Exclamation Paint or Engine?

Well, my 90 Bronco is almost done. I have the engine ready to be dropped in next weekend. The only problem I have is I can't decide whether I want to piant the truck first, then put in the engine, or put the engine in then paint the truck.

WHat would you do? Engine then paint or paint then engine?

Do the engine first, that way if you ding the body or scratch
something you can fix it before you paint.

Anytime i have done a refurb I do all mechanical first and save
the body work for last.

I would clean and paint the engine compartment first, then put in the engine and touch up any nicks, then paint the rest of the truck.

Yeah the engine block is painted black. This engine cost me $6500. It's 480 HP!!!!

That is what my old engine had.

This is my new engine:

Precision machined 351W block, micro polished and deburred nodular crankshaft, shot peened stress relieved connecting rods with 190,000 psi ARP bolts, Hypereutectic heavy duty pistons 9.5:1 compression ratio, speed pro piston rings, 3-piece steel double roller style timing gear set, dual energy comp camshaft, high volume melling oil pump and screen, Edelbrock high flow capacity 60cc combustion chamber cylinder heads, 2.02 stainless steel swirl polished intake valves, 1.60 stainless steel swirl polished exhaust valves, 1.6 ratio rockers, Hard seats, heavy duty 1.45 diameter valve springs, 7 degree locks, heavy duty chrome moly push rods, rear sump 6 quart oil pan, chrome baffled valve covers, Heavy duty automatic flex plate, edelbrock performer EFI intake manifold, Accel electronic distributor, champion spark plugs, 21 l/b fuel injectors, Airtex high flow water pump, BALANCED AND BLUE-PRINTED!!!

All that and $6634.00 will get you 480 HORSEPOWER!!!!!

9.5:1 compression ratio is good, what is your total engine displacement? The edelbrock heads and intake will add excellent airflow, what are your camshaft specs? (duration, lift, LSA?) is it a roller cam?

Where is the initial/total timing set?
