New CDC report out...

That said that gun laws don't have an effect on violent crime. Gee, we had to spend lots of money to figure this one out? Well, at least they were smart enough to come to the right conclusion. Of course you won't hear any of this on the major news networks.
I'll have to try to find the report. It was metioned on the local talk/news radio so that's all I have for a reference.

You're right, Mike. All of the anti-gun arguments fly in the face of logic and good sense. Now we are reduced to begging the local sheriff for permission to enjoy a right that our founders recognized as inherent.

Most studies relating to the effect of right-to-carry laws clearly show that as larger numbers of citizens become armed, the "victim pool" shrinks, and violent crime along with it.

Will our oponents ever say "Gee, I guess the proof is in; you guys were right all the time. Where do I sign up for a permit?"

Don't hold your breath!

Our gun laws have never significantly reduced the number of guns at large. They probably never will.

I'd say the gun laws in the U.K. have reduced the violent crime.
Wouldn't you?

Show me a place with a lot of guns and I'll show you a place where a lot of people get shot.

Of course handguns are far different than rifles.

Are you being sarcastic or serious? If the gun laws have made the UK safer, why are the bobbies (that's "English" for police) armed with guns now that private ownership has more or less been outlawed? The bobbies had previously never carried firearms. Violent crime in the UK has gotten worse. Same with Australia, which was reported to have a huge increase (something like 70%) in gun crime 2 years after private ownership of firearms was more or less prohibited.

"Show me a place with a lot of guns and I'll show you a place where a lot of people get shot. "
How about Switzerland (or is it Austria?), where every male is a member of the military and keeps an automatic weapon at home?

I hadn't heard that bobbies are carrying nowadays. Is that so?

I do believe handguns are strictly controlled in Switzerland and Austria.

...In switzerland most adult males are reservists/militia and maintain their battle rifles in the home...
...Another example of a armed society being a polite society.

Actually it's 44% in Australia. Even so that is a huge jump in a couple of years. All their laws did was make easy prey out of the law abiding citizens, criminals don't care about laws. Govt hasn't figured that out yet.
