'03 FX4 Expy Alarm
What is the simpliest electronic alarm to add my 03 FX4 Expy?
Either on my own or via a dealer. I have seen on The Ford Collection website, something called the Vehicle Security System 4, for vehicles with keyless entry (p/n:F3AZ19A361C).
I am not concerned with remote start. I just want something to go off if the vehicle is broken into.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Crutchfield's Crime-Guard AL-100C
Anyone know anything about this device (Crutchfield's Crime-Guard AL-100C)? It appears that it just plugs into my Expy's keyless entry system, and voila!
Any thoughts or experience with this out there?

I don't know about anythign SPECIFIC to the new Expy but I think any reputable alarm shop in your area can steer you in the right direction.
The type you install varies based on what you what kind of break it you want it to sense. Most inexpensive ones won't sense the breaking of windows. Only the opening of doors and hood.
So it depends.
I've always thought that the biggest dog you can get at the Animal Shelter is the best alarm. Cheap, too....well...till you gotta feed it.

The alarm is only as good as the install so be careful if the price is too good.
Price will vary depending on the number of bells and whistles you want.
two-way remotes
motion sensor
glass break
battery backup
proximity sensor
tilt sensor
pager
2 pt or 3 pt immobilizer
hood lock
door locks
operate power windows
pop liftgate
etc.
You can spend a few hundred to well over a grand. Sorry if I didn't answer your question, but it depends so much on what level of security you feel comfortable with?
There's no doubt integrating an alarm with the OEM keyless system is the easiest but it's probably not the best alarm (again depends on what you really expect from the alarm). The simplicity probably translates to easy to disable or people familiar with Ford "stuff" can easily disable it.
