Dustless Break Pad
Notice the right front!! The worst part is it was washed 50 miles before taking that picture. I put Raybestos Quiet Stop pads on it and don't notice any brake dust. I got mine for $55 at Smyth, they will quote you some price near $100 but Smyth can bargain a little bit, if it's worth it to you - however if you can afford the '04 expy .....
hehe
The ceramics also promise a quiter, cooler stop
...but...
would you ever notice? I don't think I would, hehe
Oh, and the Quiet Stops are the ceramic compound. From what I understand it doesn't eliminate all brake dust, but what's produced is much whiter, and very hard to see.

Seems like 90% less.

FWIW, I have Bendix CT3 Ceramic pads. Got them from Advance Auto Parts - don't remember how much. Real quiet, smooth stopping, little or no dust.

Must be around the $76 I paid at Autozone for my Raybestos Quiet Stops.
I've read and heard Napa's Ceramix pads are Raybestos Quiet Stops.Don't know if that's true or not.

I had a set of Raybestos Quiet Stops on a '97 Honda Accord. They worked very nicely.
I have no complaints about the Bendix CT3's I've got now.

First, I don't know why Ford doesn't install them, but maybe it has something to do with the problem I'm having finding replacement pads for my '04 (same as the '03). I simply can't find any, other than what's on there now. I'd like to know if anyone with an '03 or '04 has found a supplier that has them.
Secondly, I'd go out on a limb and say that installing new pads will NOT void your warranty. If there's ever a problem related to the replacement part, the manufacturer could assert that the replacement part caused or contributed to the problem, but they can't void your entire warranty simply because you replaced what in this case already appears to be an inferior part. They could just refuse to repair the part-related problem. As you noted, rotor wear could be an issue. This is something I'm not versed in, so maybe someone else can help out here. Are the new ceramic pads any harder on the rotors?
Good questions Fred.

1) Cost!
Say the ceramic pads cost $10 extra per truck X 1 million trucks.
The bean counters don't like too spend what they don't have to.
2)If the pad is made for truck I would think there wouldn't be a problem.
Here's a note on the advantages of ceramic pads.
