Hood Cowl

I'm almost ready to replace my hood cowl and trying to decide if I should spring $180 for OEM or the aftermarket from Amazon
Amazon Amazon
The Amazon says it's made from ABS, and there's no data of the OEM that I can find. Another option is to have my original coated with Bullit Liner with a smoother texture than what's on the bumpers.

The aftermarket has great reviews but I trust the opinions of our forum members more. Anyone have experience or ideas on this? I'd be happy if the Amazon part lasted 20 years like the OEM did. Another thought is, if I have my OEM coated, I can have them cover the unsightly antenna hole. I removed the antenna as I don't listen to radio and really dislike that ugly antenna.

What direction would you guys go?

I have the Amazon one in my cart. Have not pulled the trigger yet. All reports seem to point to a good fit and it comes with the windshield seal. Does not come with screws so you have to reuse or buy new ones.

I also removed my antenna. Cleaner look.

I'm in the same position. I'm also trying to figure out how to cover that unsightly hole where the antenna comes out. Outside of that, if the ABS material is the same as the OEM, it should last as long. Oh, and I just ordered new wiper arms so the whole area will be new.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I bought the one from Amazon ($117.99). Fits perfect (05 X) and it comes with all the washer sprayers and tubing. As mentioned, no screws come with it.

When I installed mine I also had to replace a couple of the clips for the screws. Here is a link for those

They’re pricey little gems! How many are in there?

If you mean how many clips come in the package from Amazon, 10. I think the cowl only needs 6 or 8 (less than 10) but I only needed to replace 3.

This is perfect, thank you! I think in the next couple weeks the cowl and clips will be ordered. I'd rather have all the parts, use new, and be good for another 20 years....

Clips and cowl arrived from Amazon now waiting for this weekend to install. I'll report after installation. I bought some plugs to fill the antenna hole but they were too large. It looks like the hole is ~ 7/8" ID. If anyone has found a solution to covering the hole, please let us know.

I installed my new cowl, ordered from Amazon, today. It was a perfect match and it came with the washer tubes, but I didn't like the new pissers so I used the OG's instead. The windshield seal strip didn't fit tight onto its edge, so we will see if that comes off. All told it looks great.

Be careful it is easy to scratch getting it onto the wiper mount and under the hood edge!

Installed mine today with new clips. You’re right, the windshield seal is a bear to keep in place. I installed the seal after the cowl was on and the screws not completely seated. It’s squeezed in by that little lip and the glass. My passenger pisser shoots more than the drivers side. They fit very loose in the cowl so I’m afraid to mess with them. Also I need to paint the screw heads. I’ll do that tomorrow. The job wasn’t hard but crawling around and reaching was a pia...

Painted the fasters today black. They look so much better than having old weathered and rusty colored screws ruining the look of my brand new cowl and wiper arms.

***Update***
Antenna hole plugs arrived from Amazon so now the hood cowl is complete.
