I'm going to add new leaf springs and am hoping to add some bolt on shocks to my 45 Ford. Any thoughts or recommendations. Here's a picture of the frame where I'd mount.
I did it to my last truck by adding the Ford car tube shock mounts to the frame at the original location of the factory shocks and installing a shock stud in the upper spring bracket for the lower shock mount (sorry, no pics). Only issue is the inner fender well will need to be notched for clearance for the new upper mount. My current truck has good factory Haudaille shocks so I didn't convert it....yet. These are the style mounts I used in my last truck and will use on my current one when/if the originals start leaking.
They pop up from time to time. I bought a set off the H.A.M.B. and the other set off the Ford Barn. A set of them recently sold on the H.A.M.B. There are two different styles, short and long, you want the longer ones that have the angled bracket that attaches to the frame. Good luck!
the F1 trucks, 48 onwards have a similar looking one too. they also have hole cast in the axel for the lower mounting if its any help, haven't yet done it to mine but intend too, true, I believe you will need to notch the inner guard
