Hey I have a 2001 f150 5.4L V8 Vin L with 322,000 miles RWD. I’ve done several brake jobs and used just regular dot 3 brake fluid with no specific brand in mind. I was just curious if the Ford brand brake fluid dot 3 differed from other brands?
And any quality DOT 3 brake fluid will exceed the minimum federal standard for DOT 3 by quite a lot, the last quart of Prestone I bought, the high temp rating is close to or exceeds the minimum for DOT 4 iirc.

that’s good to know. Just changed the brake fluid this morning on my truck
I think DOT 3 is still used today because anti-lock brakes (the manifold or whatever that dingus is) doesn't play well with DOT 4, it's a little too thick or somesuch. At least this was the case up until a few years ago. DOT 3 anyway bleeds easy as pie.
