Hill Descent Control

Could those of you with this option (factory or otherwise) clue me into why I would want or need HDC? Is it generally only used off road?

Its only for offroad use and I believe its more of a hindrance than anything. I gave up attempting to use it.

not over 30

I am fairly sure it is for off road use only because I do not think it functions over 30 MPH

have never used it. as far as i can tell, the tow/haul seems to accomplish the same thing but via engine braking

On-road - the tow/haul feature is pretty useful, although some people hate it.

I had it on my 11 F3 50, it was dumb, performance is way better with my foot and 4 x 4 low manual shifting. Basically a gimmick

I’ve used it a few times in the mountains in Utah & NE Pennsylvania. I think the upper limit is 20 mph but it was a big help when I was in a steep long hill descent on secondary roads towing our Landmark 5er. Not off roading but steep & narrow enough that it came in handy. Just pressed the button & took foot off accelerator on the decline. When the hill levels out & you accelerate it kicks out but then will reactivate on the next descent once below 20.
