I was also rather disappointed in the amount of space. I went ahead and stored an extension cord and some jumper cables on the passenger side. The driver side is pretty much useless for me.
You must have a fancy stereo or something ‘cause I’ve got more room in mine. There’s jumper cables, a blanket, raincoat and pants and a spotlight behind mine! I don’t know though, maybe a fancy stereo is better than a raincoat anyway!
Probably a Chinese knockoff. Built Right is made in USA.
Yep Id much rather pay 3x more for a simple latch worth .50 cents that no one sees

I have a Pioneer shallow mount and the box I ordered from Walmart.com. It is part number LCE-F017/10F. I had to enlarge the hole a bit to get my sub to fit but its the only one I could find that would fit.
The only reason the latch is there on my truck is to access the equipment behind the seat in case it needs repair/replaced. I store stuff under the rear seat and the larger stuff goes in a plastic tub in the bed.
My XLT has the same amount of room on both sides. I installed the $10 EBay latch and it works fine. At first, it wouldn't relatch. After a half hour of fiddling, I determined it had nothing to do with the unlatchamajiggy, it was that Ford's latch had a rubber piece where the contact between latch and catch is during closing. This was too wide, causing resistance, and didn't allow the latch to close and lock. A little 3 in 1 Oil got the locking part moving smoothly. I'm surprised it was ever latched completely as it left the factory. Ultimately, it gave me quite a bit of room behind the back seat.
