Tranny problems...

Tranny problems...
Hey guys, nice to see ya'll again. Seems my brothers tranny is really dead. It's a 92 ford ranger 2wd. but the engine sticker has 93 on it. I'ts the 2.3L 4-banger. The door sticker says 92 and the tranny code is M
Does anyone know what tranny he has or can you point me in the direction too someyone who knows?
Just curious, The axle code is 86, what does that mean?
Also, what all are we looking at to yankin the tranny.
