Sometimes the blades themselves are removable from the cartridges. When I had my '68 Cougar, it still had its original wiper arms, and I bought a set of blades where I was able to pull the blades from the cartridges, and they slid right in and clicked in perfectly on the Cougar. The older guy at autozone swore it wouldn't work, but I went out in the parking lot and proved him wrong...

HECK YEAH!!!!
That is the kind of thing that ALWAYS makes me laugh out loud......

GOOD WORK!!!
That's been close to 20 years ago, so I'm probably closing in on that guy's age by now, but you would think that the older fellers would be the ones to know what works, without having to consult the computer or catalog.

Blade refills, where you slide the rubber blade into the existing assembly, are getting to be like hen's teeth. Blade assemblies are plentiful... saw both 14 and 15" Anco assemblies for under $9 at Wally World yesterday. Lot of cars nowadays have ginormous long driver's side wipers and little 14-15" passenger side blades, and a lot of SUVs use the shorter blades for their back windows. May not be silver but they keep water off the glass.
