I love the X, but am paranoid about backing over little things such as kids, animals, British cars, Chevys etc. I was watching the news this morning and they were demonstrating a static-cling adhesive version of those "fish bowl" lenses that you see on delivery vans. It adheres to the inside of the vehicle, so it doesn't look dorky. From what they showed on the news, it made a huge improvement in improving rear vision when backing. You could see a kid standing right behind the SUV which was otherwise only visible when 20-feet out. I ordered one from www.rearlens.com I'll report back how well it works. I figure for 20 bucks, it'll hopefully be worth it.
I know that $20 is not a lot of money compared to an aftermarket reverse sensor but wouldn't that be a cleaner look & maybe a bit more effective since it is a machine and cannot be distracted like the human driver?
Oh heck, guess it don't matter so long as you don't run over a kid, dog etc.
I'd like to see it installed. If you get one, take pics!
Yes - been around for at least 25 years...
had them on two of my early motorhomes...
works well for seeing that SOMETHING is there,
but am real pleased with stock reverse sensing system and have 'proven' it to myself by testing on all manner of obstacles - sems to 'see' everything...
